Governor Bala Mohammed has emphasized the need to observe protocol, etiquette and best practices especially when such activities involve high ranking government officials.

He said, “There is need for conducive atmosphere which entails orderliness, decorum and civility for people who are knowledgeable in the art of protocol to ensure successful conduct of state functions.

The Governor was speaking while declaring opened a week long intensive training programme on protocol, etiquette and best practices for protocol officers and senior government officials in the state.

The training programme is holding under the auspices of A&B Executive Protocol Consultants LTD with the sole sponsorship of Bauchi State Government as graciously approved by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

He explained that the training is aimed at enhancing the capacity of carefully selected government officials in order to render better services to the state in the area of protocol etiquette and best practices.

“In our determination to have a knowledge- driven public service, we have placed high premium on capacity building and human capital development through training and retraining of both political appointees and civil servants”, he said.

Senator Bala Mohammed recalled that his administration has since it’s inception in 2019, embarked on training of various cadres of public officers, such as commissioners, permanent secretaries and other accounting officers on salary administration.

“It also include training on routine office procedure for selected officers and course on speech writing conducted by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the cost of which was borne by the state government.”

Mohammed therefore expressed confident that the training will afford participants the opportunity to identify their weak spots that require improvement for effective discharge of their official responsibilities.

He also assured that that his administration will not relent in its efforts to frontally address the challenges of service delivery to the good people of the state within available resources.

The Governor added, “I am determined to see to the development of our dear state in all spheres of human endeavours and would therefore be receptive to ideas that support this noble objective”.

He concluded, “I Understand clearly the enormity of the task before this administration and will do everything within my powers to tackle the challenges of delivering the dividends of democracy to our people, in keeping with the ideals of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

The Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Pharmacist Samaila Burga in a welcome address, described the conduct of the training as the first of its kind, and urged the participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired for better service delivery.

The Chief Instructor of A&B Executive Protocol Consultants Limited, Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir said that the training would focus more on how the participants can handle government protocols and procedures effectively.

According to him, participants will learn key issues that include protocol etiquettes, order of.precedence, ceremonies, flags and logos, synergy among protocol, security and media, among others.

Bashir noted with delight that the state has taken the lead to becoming the first state in the federation to host the training programme for a cluster of government in one forum, as other states are beginning to emulate Bauchi.

He respectfully quoted Oprah Winfrey and Madeleine Albright thus, “Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best practice for the next moment”, and “Whatever the job you are asked to do at whatever level do a good job because your reputation is your resume”.
