UYO — The newly elected leadership of the Police Officers’ Mess Committee in Akwa Ibom State has thrown its weight behind the reform and welfare agenda of the Commissioner of Police, pledging to strengthen unity, professionalism, and officers’ morale across the Command.
The pledge was made on Tuesday when the Honorary President of the Police Officers’ Mess Committee, Engr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, led members of the committee on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police at the State Command Headquarters.
Speaking during the visit, Engr. Ekpenyong lauded the Commissioner for his leadership style and commitment to the security of lives and property in the state, describing his administration as one that places premium value on the welfare and professional growth of police personnel.
He assured the police boss that the committee would work hand-in-hand with the Command to champion initiatives that promote discipline, integrity, teamwork, and improved welfare for officers, noting that a motivated workforce remains essential to effective policing.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police congratulated Engr. Ekpenyong on his emergence as Honorary President, describing the office as a strategic platform for fostering harmony and unity among officers.
He urged the new leadership to sustain programmes that would strengthen camaraderie within the Force and complement the Command’s drive for excellence in service delivery.
The police chief also reaffirmed his open-door policy, assuring the committee of continuous support for genuine initiatives aimed at improving officers’ welfare, promoting professionalism, and advancing institutional development.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing confidence that stronger collaboration between the Police Command and the Officers’ Mess Committee would enhance morale, deepen discipline, and ultimately improve policing and public safety across Akwa Ibom State.
