New Director DSS Visits Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Internal Security

The Borno State Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, , received in a courtesy visit the newly posted Director of Security (SDS) Borno state command, Adamu Ahmad Umar.

While delivering his remarks, the newly posted Director of DSS, Adamu Ahmad Umar, stated the Commissioner that he was in the Ministry to register his presence and to seek for the continued support of the Borno stare Government towards security affairs, a gesture enjoyed by his predecessors, in ensuring sustainable peace and development in the State.

The new Director DSS was accompanied by his Deputy Director of Administration and Logistics, Iliyasu Sani; Deputy Director of Operation Musa Sambo Muhammad; and the Deputy Director Security Enforcement, Hassan Musa Amshi.

The Director assured that the current relative peace enjoyed in the state will be sustained under his watch.

In response, the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar, appreciated the DSS in the state for supporting the efforts of the state government under the leadership of Prof Babagana Umara Zulum towards the restoration of peace and security in the state.

Prof noted that “Intelligence gathering is one of the key aspects of security architecture that cannot be neglected by the government. That is why the Borno state government is working tirelessly under the leadership of Gov. Babagana Umar Zulum, in ensuring that peace and order thrive in the state”.

Prof. Tar stated that it was against this backdrop that the nomenclature of the ministry changed from the Ministry of Information, Home Affairs and Culture to the Ministry of Information and Internal Security. The Internal Security component is an addition to the existing mandates of the ministry.

Prof. Tar further assured that BOSG will support projects of the DSS, which is in line with the 25 year Development Plan of the State. He also sought the support of the DSS in the implementation of the Borno Model, a non- kinetic approach to deradicalisation and reintegration of Ex-Combatants, and supporting the government in ensuring general security in the state.

Highlights of the courtesy visit were presentation of an award to the Honourable Commissioner, signing of the Visitors Register; and group photographs.
