ABUJA — Senator Ali Ndume has revealed that he advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to communicate directly with Nigerians on critical national issues instead of relying on aides and government officials to speak on his behalf.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the President on Thursday, the Borno South senator said he urged Tinubu to personally engage citizens, stressing that direct communication would strengthen public trust and allow Nigerians to better understand the administration’s policies and decisions.
According to Ndume, President Tinubu received the suggestion positively and assured him that he would give it due consideration.
“I advised President Bola Tinubu to speak to Nigerians directly, rather than others speak on his behalf. He promised to look into it,” the senator said.
The remarks come amid growing public calls for more direct engagement between the President and Nigerians as the country grapples with economic reforms, security concerns and other pressing national challenges.
Ndume’s disclosure has sparked fresh discussions on the importance of presidential communication, with political observers noting that direct addresses from the nation’s leader often help shape public confidence, clarify government policies and counter misinformation.
