Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has criticized the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) for expressing regret over their support for President Bola Tinubu in the last general election.

NEF spokesman Abdul-Azeez Suleiman recently stated that the North made a mistake in voting for Tinubu, but Masari, in an interview with Daily Trust, countered that the elders’ endorsement was based on unmet expectations rather than solid principles.

“Those who say they regret supporting him (Tinubu) did so because their expectations were not met.

They did not support him on principles,” Masari asserted, emphasizing that it is premature to judge the administration within its first year. Masari also dismissed criticisms from PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and LP’s Peter Obi, noting that their campaign promises included the controversial fuel subsidy removal.

“All parties campaigned on subsidy removal. Let’s not go there.

We are bad losers and sometimes the winners must be more accommodating and patient.

That’s the price of leadership,” he concluded.
