Birnin Kebbi – The Federal Government has boosted healthcare and nutrition support for vulnerable residents in Kebbi State with the donation of medical supplies and nutritional commodities worth millions of naira through the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
The intervention, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction in partnership with the NCFRMI, is aimed at improving access to essential healthcare services and tackling malnutrition among displaced and vulnerable populations across the state.
The North-West Zonal Coordinator of the Commission, Armiya’u Shuaibu, disclosed in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi that the donation followed the recent flag-off of relief distribution to vulnerable communities in selected states, including Kebbi.
According to him, the consignment comprises a wide range of pharmaceutical products, 3,600 bags of 4kg Tom Brown and 7,413 sachets of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to strengthen nutrition interventions for children and other at-risk groups.
Shuaibu explained that a structured distribution plan had been developed to ensure the supplies reach the intended beneficiaries, noting that the medical items would be distributed exclusively to health facilities across Kebbi North and Kebbi South Senatorial Districts.
The donated drugs include Paracetamol syrup, Lonart tablets and suspension, Emvite C, Zolat, Ciprofloxacin, Ampiclox, Ceftriaxone injection, Gentamicin injection, Artesunate injection, intravenous fluids, syringes, bandages, mosquito nets and multivitamins.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Kebbi State Government, the Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Samaila Yakubu Augie, praised the NCFRMI and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for the timely intervention.
He assured that the ministry would distribute the medical supplies and nutritional items transparently and strictly in line with the Commission’s guidelines to ensure they benefit the targeted vulnerable communities.
