Kebbi Orders Armoured Vehicles to Fight Insecurity

Katsina State Government

By: Abdullahi Inuwa

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has ordered the procurement of new security vehicles, including armoured vehicles, as part of renewed efforts to strengthen security operations and protect communities across the state.

Governor Idris disclosed this on Monday during sympathy visits to Jandutsi in Jega Local Government Area and Andarai in Maiyama Local Government Area, where he commiserated with victims of recent attacks and displaced residents.

The Governor expressed deep sympathy with families affected by the attacks, assuring them that his administration would deploy every necessary resource to protect lives and property and prevent further incidents.

He said the government had already ordered additional security vehicles, including armoured vehicles, to boost the operational capacity of security agencies and enable them to respond more swiftly to emerging threats.

Idris also revealed that additional security personnel had been requested and deployed to vulnerable communities, with efforts underway to ensure effective positioning of personnel in areas facing security challenges.

He said the ultimate goal was to restore confidence among residents and create an environment where people could pursue their legitimate businesses and sleep peacefully in their homes.

“The government will not relent in its responsibility to protect the people,” the Governor assured.

Idris further called for stronger cooperation among neighbouring states, particularly in border communities where criminals could exploit jurisdictional boundaries to launch attacks.

He urged governors in the region to intensify intelligence sharing and inter-state security collaboration as part of collective efforts to tackle insecurity.

The Governor also directed the provision of additional relief materials to communities affected by the attacks, assuring displaced persons that the government would continue to address their immediate humanitarian needs while implementing long-term security measures.

In separate remarks, the District Heads of Jandutsi and Andarai, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar and Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu, respectively, commended the Governor for the relief assistance provided to affected residents.

They also appreciated his decision to personally visit the communities despite being away when the attacks occurred.

The traditional leaders appealed for the deployment of permanent security personnel, increased support for local vigilantes and a stronger security presence in the affected areas.

They also called for temporary shelters for displaced residents and urgent government intervention to address the communities’ longstanding water challenges.
