Katsina State Government to Subsidize Grains for the Less Privileged

In a bid to alleviate economic hardships and combat rising grain prices, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has announced a subsidized distribution of maize, millet, and guinea corn.

In a meeting at the Katsina State Government House, Governor Radda revealed that bags of these essential grains would be available at a subsidized rate of N20,000 per bag.

The initiative is aimed at supporting the less privileged within the state, providing them access to affordable food items.

Governor Radda highlighted the opportunity for individuals to purchase ten measures of the grains, including maize, guinea corn, and millet, at the subsidized rate.

Each unit is set at five hundred naira, significantly lower than the current market value of around one thousand five hundred naira.

To oversee the distribution and revenue collection, a local government committee led by Alhaji Khalil Musa Kofar Bai has been established.

The committee comprises representatives from various sectors, including emirs, civil society organizations, and religious groups.

Governor Radda emphasized the importance of the committee’s dedication to ensuring the success of this initiative, ultimately benefiting those it intends to assist.
