The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its offensive against drug trafficking with the arrest of an alleged notorious drug dealer and the seizure of 1,220 illicit drugs alongside ₦128,800 suspected to be proceeds from the illegal trade.
The breakthrough, which followed credible intelligence, was recorded on July 23, 2026, when operatives of the Rimi Divisional Police Headquarters intercepted Muhammad Lawal, 30, during a routine patrol along Tsagero Road in Rimi Local Government Area.
A comprehensive search on the suspect uncovered 1,000 tablets of Exol-5, 200 tablets of D-5, 10 packets of Pregabalin, and 10 packets of Tramadol, all believed to be intended for distribution within the area. Police also recovered ₦128,800, suspected to be proceeds from the illicit drug business.
Investigators said the suspect admitted during interrogation to being actively involved in the sale and distribution of prohibited drugs across Rimi LGA and surrounding communities, exposing what police described as a thriving illegal drug operation.
The Command confirmed that the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, praised the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the arrest as another significant victory in the Command’s sustained campaign against drug abuse and organised crime in Katsina State.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and urged residents to remain vigilant by providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public support remains crucial to winning the fight against crime.
