KATSINA POLICE FOIL KIDNAPPING ATTEMPT, RESCUE 14 VICTIMS

CP Commends Officers’ Gallantry, Calls for Public Support

In a daring operation on November 24, 2024, Katsina State Police Command thwarted a kidnapping attempt along the Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, rescuing 14 victims from the clutches of armed bandits.

The incident occurred at Dan’arau village around 7:55 PM when suspected bandits ambushed two commercial vehicles, opening fire and attempting to abduct the occupants. Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia led a team of operatives in a fierce gun battle, forcing the assailants to flee.

While two of the rescued victims sustained gunshot injuries, tragically, one succumbed to his injuries despite receiving medical care. Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.

Commending the officers for their bravery and commitment, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police urged them to maintain their momentum in ensuring the safety of citizens. He also called on the public to provide timely information on criminal activities to aid law enforcement efforts.

The Police Command reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing that community collaboration remains key to tackling insecurity.
