Secretaries of the 34 Local Government Councils in Katsina State have completed a two-day capacity-building workshop designed to strengthen administrative leadership and improve efficiency in local government operations.

The training, held in Kano from August 22 to 23, 2026, was organised by the Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs in partnership with Kado Generation Integrated Services Limited.

Held under the theme, “Strengthening Administrative Leadership and Institutional Effectiveness in Local Administration in Katsina State,” the workshop focused on equipping council secretaries with practical knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage administrative responsibilities.

Organisers described the programme as the first training of its kind specifically designed for local government secretaries in the state, with participants gaining deeper understanding of administrative procedures, departmental coordination and effective management of council affairs.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Bishir Tanimu, said the training provided an important platform for the council secretaries to acquire the expertise required to discharge their responsibilities more effectively.

He urged the participants to put the knowledge gained during the workshop into practice, while also ensuring that other officials and staff under their supervision benefit from the lessons.
