The Katsina State Government has commended the Katsina State Police Command following the arrest of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to the abduction of an eight-year-old boy in Katsina metropolis.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, the government praised the swift and intelligence-driven operation carried out by operatives of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage.

The suspects, led by one Nura Aliyu, popularly known as “Nura Garwa,” were reportedly arrested in connection with the kidnapping of the young boy on May 13, 2026, while he was returning from an Islamic school in the Sardauna Housing Estate area.

Authorities also confirmed the recovery of exhibits linked to the crime during the operation.

The state government described the breakthrough as a strong indication of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to strengthening security across Katsina through strategic collaboration with security agencies.

“Governor Radda’s administration is working tirelessly in partnership with security agencies to keep Katsina State safe and secure for all residents,” the statement said.

The government reassured citizens that ongoing security gains would be sustained and urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of security agencies by providing credible information to aid the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Governor Radda, on behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, further applauded the police command for the successful operation, reiterating his administration’s resolve to prioritise the protection of lives and property across the state.
