Katsina State is set to conduct its much-anticipated Local Government elections on Saturday, February 15, 2025, as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) confirms full preparedness for a free, fair, and credible poll.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Commission reiterated that all necessary arrangements had been made, including the distribution of non-sensitive election materials across the 34 Local Government Areas. Additionally, over 20,000 ad-hoc staff have been recruited and trained to facilitate the electoral process. Sensitive materials, according to the Commission, will be distributed on the eve of the election.

The Commission expressed gratitude to stakeholders, particularly security agencies, for their unwavering support in ensuring a peaceful and secure electoral environment. It also reminded all participating political parties to end their campaigns 24 hours before the election, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).

With just days to go, all eyes are on Katsina as the state prepares to make another democratic milestone.
