In a bid to reignite the cultural vibrancy of Katsina State, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has unveiled ambitious plans to resurrect the famed “hawan durbar,” showcasing the state’s rich heritage to the world.
Joined by the esteemed Bulgarian Ambassador, Mr. Yanko Yordanov, the Governor made this pledge during the Eid-el-Fitr “hawan bariki” ceremony, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s cultural resurgence.
Embracing the legacy of the past, Governor Radda emphasized the importance of preserving traditions that once drew throngs of visitors to Katsina, transforming it into a cultural epicentre.
With the enlistment of cultural experts, the Governor aims to elevate the durbar festivities to national prominence, signalling a renaissance for Katsina’s tourism industry.
In a symbolic gesture, the Governor directed district and village heads to partake in the Sallah procession on horseback, reaffirming their integral role in upholding Katsina’s cultural tapestry.
He urged them to embrace this tradition wholeheartedly, shedding light on its significance in preserving the state’s identity.
Beyond cultural revitalization, Governor Radda underscored his commitment to enhancing education opportunities, unveiling foreign scholarships and specialized pilot schools across the state.
Emphasizing meritocracy, candidates will undergo rigorous assessments to ensure only the most deserving students benefit from these initiatives.
Echoing the Governor’s sentiments, the esteemed Emir of Katsina, HRH Abdulmumini Kabir, urged affluent Muslims to embrace philanthropy, emphasizing the transient nature of worldly wealth.
Grateful for the Governor’s support, Emir Kabir highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and traditional institutions in fostering unity and development.
