Kano Police Command Enhances Security Measures for Harmattan Season

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has directed intensified security measures and robust stakeholder engagements to address emerging challenges associated with the Harmattan season.

”This was during a strategic meeting convened with operational commanders of the command on November 29, 2024, to discuss security concerns linked to climate change and seasonal risks.

CP Salman Dogo Garba highlighted the increased risks of accidents and fire incidents during the dry and cold Harmattan season, coupled with heightened human and vehicular activity.

To mitigate these risks, round-the-clock visibility patrols will be implemented across the state.

The Commissioner emphasized the need for police officers to maintain discipline, uphold integrity, and respect human rights while adhering to the rule of law.

Proactive measures, including stakeholder meetings, were discussed to avert potential conflicts between farmers and herders.

Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) have been instructed to convene dialogues with relevant parties to foster understanding and peace.

CP Salman assured Kano residents of the police command’s commitment to ensuring their safety and security during the season.
