KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has described the people of Kafur Local Government Area as instrumental to his political rise in Katsina State, expressing deep appreciation for their support while seeking their continued backing for the Tinubu–Dikko political project ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Radda made the remarks on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, during a visit to the palace of the District Head of Kafur, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdullahi, Dan Galadiman Katsina, where he engaged traditional rulers and community stakeholders ahead of the Tinubu–Dikko campaign rally.
The governor, who described Kafur as his second home, said the people of the area played a significant role in shaping his political journey and bringing him to his present position.
“This local government is, as I always say, my second home. The children of this local government supported me in becoming who I am in Katsina State. Therefore, we are truly and sincerely grateful,” he said.
He praised the massive turnout and warm reception accorded to his entourage, particularly during his earlier visit to Mahuta, describing the show of solidarity as a demonstration of the people’s affection and confidence.
Radda also reaffirmed his administration’s respect for traditional and religious institutions, noting that their roles in maintaining peace, promoting unity and guiding communities remain indispensable to governance.
He explained that paying homage to traditional rulers and religious leaders before embarking on political engagements was in line with the state’s cultural values and long-standing traditions.
The governor further highlighted some of his administration’s interventions in strengthening traditional and religious institutions, including upgrading District Heads to the highest allowance grade for minor local government units, improving the status of Village Heads, promoting Imams and increasing allowances for Friday mosque clerics across the state.
According to him, the measures reflect his administration’s recognition of the influence, wisdom and contributions of traditional and religious leaders to grassroots development.
He also identified the Community Development Programme (CDP) as a major platform for ensuring that traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders participate actively in governance and the implementation of government projects.
Speaking in his capacity as Katsina State Coordinator of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign and the APC’s governorship candidate for 2027, Radda appealed for continued prayers, blessings and support from the people of Kafur.
He expressed confidence in a peaceful electoral process and victory for the APC, urging community leaders to sustain their role in promoting political harmony.
Earlier, the District Head of Kafur, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdullahi, commended the Radda administration for what he described as significant development interventions across the local government, declaring that virtually every sector had felt the impact of the government’s policies.
One of the major achievements he highlighted was the upgrading of the local health clinic to a general hospital, which he said had significantly improved access to healthcare services for residents.
The traditional ruler also acknowledged efforts to restore electricity supply following the provision of a replacement Rural Electrification Board (REB) transformer after the previous one broke down.
He, however, appealed to the government to ensure its installation and completion of the necessary work to restore regular electricity supply.
On infrastructure, Abdullahi recognised road projects in Agwazaki and Unguwar Sabon Gari Dan Gadama, while disclosing that further interventions were being considered for Mahuta and that discussions were ongoing on the rehabilitation and upgrading of Kafur township roads.
He called for additional road networks to accommodate the town’s growing population and expanding residential areas.
The District Head also appealed for the provision of a transformer to enable the completion and full operation of the RUWASA water supply project, explaining that the absence of electricity infrastructure had prevented the scheme from becoming fully functional.
He further drew attention to prolonged electricity challenges affecting Kafur’s eastern corridor, particularly Mahuta and Dan Kanjiba, as well as Kafur town and neighbouring communities.
According to him, some electricity distribution lines in the affected areas have remained without active power supply for nearly eight years, making urgent rehabilitation necessary.
Education was another major concern raised by the traditional ruler, who appealed for more teachers and improved school infrastructure, noting that Parent-Teacher Associations had continued to shoulder considerable responsibilities despite government interventions.
Despite the requests, the District Head assured the governor of the traditional institution’s continued support and commitment to peace, development and the APC’s political agenda.
He also prayed for peaceful elections and expressed optimism about hosting the governor for a grand celebratory dinner after the 2027 polls.
In his remarks, Kafur Local Government Chairman, Hon. Surajo Bature, described the governor’s visit as a demonstration of respect for traditional institutions and appreciation for the people.
Bature assured Radda that the APC family and residents of Kafur remained united and committed to supporting his administration and political aspirations.
He also praised the governor’s developmental initiatives, inclusive governance and empowerment programmes, particularly those implemented through collaboration between the state government, local government authorities and party structures.
The governor’s delegation included Deputy Governor, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe; Director-General of the Tinubu–Dikko Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa; Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa; APC State Chairman, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa; Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and other government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers and campaign council members.
The visit formed part of Radda’s ongoing political consultations and engagement with traditional institutions and grassroots stakeholders as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
