A coordinated intelligence-led operation by the Katsina State Police Command has dealt a major blow to organized crime with the dismantling of a seven-man armed robbery syndicate believed to have terrorised residents of the state.
The operation, which followed days of painstaking investigation, led to the arrest of all seven principal suspects, the recovery of stolen property, and the seizure of weapons and burglary tools allegedly used by the gang.
Police said the breakthrough stemmed from a robbery reported on June 19, 2026, after armed men invaded a residence at Unwala Quarters in Katsina in the early hours of the morning and carted away motorcycles, mobile phones and other valuables.
Acting on credible intelligence, detectives tracked down the suspects and arrested them in separate operations.
The suspects, identified as Sulaiman Sabo alias Labule, Muhammad Aminu, Muhammad Yahaya, Muhammad Daddy, Aliyu Kabir, Musa Kabir and Ahmad Usman, allegedly confessed to their roles during interrogation.
Searches conducted at their hideouts yielded five stolen mobile phones, two power banks, two cutlasses, a pinch bar used for housebreaking, a flashlight and a bunch of master keys suspected to have been used in criminal operations.
Investigators also uncovered the identities of four additional suspects allegedly involved in disposing of the stolen property. Police said the fleeing suspects are currently being tracked, with efforts intensified to recover the remaining stolen items.
Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage praised the operatives for their professionalism and swift action, describing the successful operation as another demonstration of the Command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks across Katsina State.
He appealed to residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to sustaining the fight against crime.
The Police Command said the seven suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
