Chairman, Kano State Civil Service Commission (SCS), Alhaji Umar Shehu Minjibir (Garkuwan Minjibir) has disclosed that within eight months of his leadership, the agency handled 819 cases of civil servants.
Garkuwan Minjibir made the disclosure while briefing the activities of the commission in his office recently.
According to a press statement issued by Spokesman of the commission, Usman Gwadabe, the chairman said 558 civil servants were promoted, while 104 transferred across the state Ministries, Department and Agencies.
He added that 61 civil servants deployed to various organisations, 11 substituted with their cadres in addition to treatment of 67 cases affected by retirement, resignation, withdrawal and death.
Garkuwan Minjibir revealed that four employees were advanced from one cadre to another, five disciplinary cases were treated and disposed of, while seven staff appointments were converted.
The chairman lamented that the commission received one case of impersonation, revealing that the culprit was handed over to the police for prosecution.
Garkuwan Minjibir called on the state civil servants to reciprocate government gestures through redoubling their efforts and cooperating with the commission in order to continue carrying its responsibilities effectively.
The commission functions are recruitment, promotion, advertisement, confirmation of appointments and transfer of service.
Others are disciplinary, merger of service, petitions and related issues affecting the welfare of civil servants in the state.
CSC derives its powers from Section 197(a) of part 11b chapter of 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
