A Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Baba Waziri has expressed dismay that Nigeria hasn’t any business living in such conditions as burden of rising debt, deepening poverty, and persistent insecurity crisis threatening the fabrics of our society.
He noted with delight that Nigeria is richly blessed with talent, resilience, vast natural resources, and an indomitable spirit, when eventually Nigerians found themselves weight down by those negatively unfavourable conditions that become cancer worms.
Dr. Ibrahim Baba Waziri while borrowing from Chinua Achebe that the trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership, however called for leadership that is deeply accountable, one that listens, and that serves not itself, but the people generally.
Waziri, who was declaring his candidature before the press in Bauchi Friday said, “I am declaring my candidacy for the 2027 p presidential election because I believe Nigeria deserves better and I am ready to work alongside the media to build that future”.
He told the press, “Today, I stand before you not just as a candidate, but a citizen who believes deeply and unwaveringly in the promise of this great nation. We must restore security, because without safety, there can no progress”.
Dr. Waziri said, “We must rebuild our economy, focussing on productivity, innovation, and shared prosperity, not just mere survival. We must lift millions out of poverty, not through empty rhetoric, but through practical, decisive reforms that create sustainable jobs and real opportunity. We must govern with unyielding integrity, transparency and discipline”.
A two-times presidential candidate in the ninthteeh and 2000, the APM chief driver argued that it is not about politics as usual, it’s about a bold new direction, where young people can dream again, where businesses can thrive, and where every single citizen regardless of background, faith or ethnicity can feel safe, valued, and empowered.
Waziri, also holding the traditional title of Sarkin Sullubawan Bauchi, confidently puts it thus, “But let me be clear, this journey cannot be mine alone, it must be ours. This is an urgent call to every Nigerian: To rise above division, to reject despair, and to believe once again, in what we can achieve”.
The presidential candidate who during the occasion stated that the time for excuses is over, time for true leadership is now, further stated, “Together we can turn our challenges into historical opportunities, rewrite the story of our nation, and build a Nigeria that truly works for everyone”.
Sarkin Sullubawa while drawing his manifesto to fix Nigeria as a nation said that Nigeria must pay-off all the outstanding loans taken by successive past government’s within four to six months.
He assured, “Within six months to a year, our nation must be liberated from most, if not all, of the criminal syndicates currently holding us back. Furthermore, if elected, all outstanding salaries and gratuities will be paid in full within the first year”.
“We will implement free and compulsory education up to the first-degree level. We will provide healthcare for children up to seven years old, and free healthcare for our seniors from sixty years of age and above. We absolutely have the resources to achieve all of these and many more”.
According to him, Nigeria must build the capacity to produce for export and become entirely self-sufficient in all types of food, and must revolutionize agriculture to the point where we can produce vital commodities for both our domestic industrial consumption and the export market.
The APM presidential flag-bearer emphasizing the urgent need for the country to achieve complete energy self-sufficiency across all sectors by leveraging renewable energy sources, specifically solar, wind, and geothermal energy.
He outlined five key pillars of the APM administration as security, economy, international relations, humanity, and religion and ethnicity, saying “We ‘ll reform our security architecture to ensure our armed forces are fully equipped and capable of delivering the services required of them from the military to paramilitary agencies”.
Sarkin Sullubawa also admitted, “We shall restructure Nigeria into an efficient system comprising the Central Government, Zonal Goverments, and Local Government across the six geopolitical zones. Local governments will form the foundation of these zones, with each zone having the administrative weight it deserves, holding responsibilities for policing and energy management”.
To achieve this structure, he stated, his government will streamline the center to create a lean, highly efficient federal government, create more local governments to bring governance closer to the people, and align local government administration to reflect existing geopolitical zones, ensuring zonal leadership truly represent the grassroots.
Dr. Ibrahim Baba Waziri assured that his administration when eventually elected will grant the traditional institutions a prominent role in protecting lives and property, transfer the control, transfer the control of land and local minerals directly to traditional systems and local governments, as well as establish localized policing architectures, including local government police and emirate police to secure communities from within.
