Idris Cracks Down on Insecurity, Rallies Military, Police, DSS

BIRNIN KEBBI – Governor Nasir Idris has launched a fresh offensive against insecurity by rallying military commanders, security chiefs and local government leaders to reinforce the protection of lives and property across Kebbi State.

The governor convened a high-level security strategy meeting at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, bringing together key stakeholders to review the state’s security situation, strengthen intelligence gathering and adopt coordinated measures to counter emerging threats.

Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, said the gathering reflected the administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every part of Kebbi remains peaceful, secure and conducive for economic and social activities.

The meeting drew top representatives of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), vigilante groups, officials of the Ministry of Internal Security, members of the State Executive Council and chairmen of the state’s 21 local government areas.

According to Sarki, Governor Idris stressed the need for stronger collaboration among security agencies, enhanced intelligence sharing and swift, coordinated responses to security challenges, describing collective action as the most effective weapon against crime.

He noted that the governor has sustained a policy of regular security reviews to evaluate ongoing operations, identify emerging threats and fine-tune strategies aimed at preserving peace and protecting communities across the state.

The latest security engagement further highlights the Idris administration’s determination to stay ahead of security challenges by fostering closer cooperation between government, security agencies and local communities.

With security remaining at the heart of his administration’s agenda, Governor Idris reaffirmed his resolve to provide the necessary support for security agencies to safeguard lives, protect property and maintain Kebbi’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states.
