The Emir of Gwandu has thrown his royal weight behind Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), describing his administration as one built on integrity, humility and purposeful leadership, while affirming that the state is witnessing a new era of development and good governance.
The monarch’s endorsement, delivered during a meeting with a state government delegation led by the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmad BK, was portrayed as more than a ceremonial commendation. It was presented as a strong vote of confidence from one of Kebbi’s most respected traditional rulers, whose views carry significant moral and historical influence.
According to the Emir, Governor Idris’ humility, respect for elders and traditional institutions, discipline and simplicity did not begin with his emergence as governor but have remained defining qualities throughout his public life.
The royal father noted that these enduring values have shaped the governor’s approach to governance, arguing that genuine leadership is rooted not merely in political authority but in character, accountability and service to the people.
The Emir also praised the administration’s growing record in infrastructure development, saying ongoing road construction, public facility upgrades and other capital projects are transforming communities and restoring public confidence in government.
He urged Governor Idris to remain focused on delivering dividends of democracy despite criticism and political distractions, stressing that every reform-driven administration inevitably faces opposition but should remain committed to improving the lives of its people.
Emphasising the qualities that sustain lasting leadership, the Emir identified honesty, integrity, accountability and the fear of God as the pillars upon which enduring legacies are built.
Responding on behalf of the state government, Commissioner for Information Yakubu Ahmad BK expressed appreciation for the Emir’s fatherly guidance and unwavering support, describing the relationship between the government and traditional institutions as vital to peace, unity and sustainable development.
He said the Idris administration remains committed to delivering measurable results through investments in education, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure and security, with the goal of accelerating economic growth and improving the welfare of residents.
Observers say the governor’s development agenda is increasingly shifting public discourse from political promises to tangible projects, as communities across Kebbi continue to witness improvements in critical sectors.
For many stakeholders, the Emir’s endorsement reinforces the growing perception that Governor Nasir Idris’ administration is pursuing a governance model anchored on transparency, inclusiveness and service, positioning Kebbi State as one of Nigeria’s emerging examples of purposeful leadership and sustainable development.
