Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth and sports development as a tool for empowerment and global exposure.
Governor Radda stated this on Thursday when he hosted officials of the Katsina Football Academy and their partners, Moonluck Football Academy, Lagos, at the Government House, Katsina.
The team visited the Governor to present the prestigious trophy won at the IberCup Estoril 2026 held in Lisbon, Portugal, where seven players from the Katsina Football Academy featured through its partnership with Moonluck FA.
The Chairman of Moonluck Football Academy, Umar Datti, said the academy is in a 50/50 partnership with the Katsina Football Academy for the development of young football talents. He disclosed that the collaboration made it possible for seven players from Katsina to participate and emerge victorious at the international tournament in Portugal.
He further introduced to the governor the FIFA-licensed agent from Slovenia, Mr. Aljosa Albegovic of All Conti Sports, who conducted the scouting programme organised for talented youths across the state.
According to him, teams from Batagarawa, Katsina, Kurfi, Jibia and Daura Local Governments, with players drawn from almost all the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, participated in the scouting tournament which began on Wednesday. The exercise has already produced four outstanding young players.
Governor Radda congratulated the players and officials for making the state proud on the international stage and thanked the partners for choosing Katsina to invest in grassroots football.
He assured them of his government’s continued support for initiatives that create opportunities for the youth.
Those present at the meeting were State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Hon Engr. Surajo Yazid Abukur,.Director Katsina Football Academy Shamsudeen Ibrahim Makudawa and Hon Usman Bashir Galadima.
