The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged armed robbery and killing of the wife of a serving police officer at Wuro Shi’e Quarters, Gombe metropolis.
The incident occurred at about 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, when unidentified persons armed with machetes and cutlasses reportedly invaded the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, who was attached to the Safer Highway Patrol.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the assailants attempted to rob Inspector Waziri’s wife, Mrs. Aishatu Salisu, of her mobile phone after which she raised an alarm.
The police said one of the suspects subsequently attacked and stabbed her with a machete before fleeing the scene, leaving the handset behind.
Following the report, operatives of the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where she was pronounced dead.
The Command said it immediately commenced investigation and intensified efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects.
The efforts led to the arrest of two suspects identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Bashir Sale, also known as “Full”, and 18-year-old Musa Sale Ahmad, alias “Abba”.
Both suspects are residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe.
The Police said preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, while one sharp knife was recovered as an exhibit.
The case is currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gombe.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, has directed a discreet and thorough investigation to ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest police formation.
