The Gombe State Judiciary is set to make affidavit processing faster and more convenient with the introduction of an electronic affidavit system that will allow residents to access the service without necessarily travelling to court.

The initiative, which forms part of efforts to expand digital judicial services in the state, will also involve training lawyers and business centre operators on online affidavit registration.

The training was held at the Gombe State High Court along the Gombe Bypass, bringing together legal practitioners and business centre operators to familiarise them with the registration procedures and the proposed digital platform.

Speaking to journalists during the exercise, the Chief Consultant of Century Communication System Limited, Mr Solomon Adetunbi, said the initiative was an extension of the judiciary’s electronic court and magistrate system, which commenced about three years ago.

Adetunbi explained that the e-affidavit platform would enable members of the public to initiate affidavit applications from their respective locations, reducing the need for physical visits to court.

He said the development was expected to improve access to judicial services, particularly for residents of remote communities who often face difficulties travelling to court to obtain affidavits.

According to him, the portal would be opened for agents’ registration from next week, giving interested participants the opportunity to register and begin accessing the service.

He added that the digital system was designed to simplify affidavit processing, reduce unnecessary delays and make the service more accessible to the public.

Participants at the training welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the new platform would improve efficiency and streamline the affidavit registration process across the state.

Among them was the Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gombe State Branch, Barrister Kuburat, alongside representatives of Cimark Multi Vics, Tumfure.

They said the introduction of the e-affidavit system would make the process faster and more convenient for deponents while reducing the challenges associated with the traditional method of obtaining affidavits.

The participants also commended the consultant for organising the sensitisation and training programme, describing it as an important step towards integrating digital technology into the delivery of judicial services.

The initiative marks another move towards expanding access to legal services in Gombe State, with residents expected to benefit from a more convenient affidavit application process once the platform becomes operational.
