Gombe 2027: Pantami’s Lawyers Give INEC Three-Day Deadline to Reinstate His Name
Lawyers representing Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, have given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) three days to include his name on the list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election.

In a letter addressed to the INEC chairman on Monday, October 12, 2026, the lawyers, led by Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), including Ahmed Raji, A.T. Kehinde and Abdul Mohammed, objected to Pantami’s exclusion from the final list of governorship candidates published by the commission on October 10, 2026.

The legal team described the exclusion as unlawful and lacking adequate explanation, arguing that there was no legal basis for removing their client’s name after he won the PDP’s fresh governorship primary election conducted on September 29, 2026.

The lawyers urged INEC to include Pantami’s name on the list by Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and accord him the same status as other candidates.

They also requested a written explanation of the steps taken by the commission to address the matter.
