Kannywood actress Fati Karishima has opened up on what she describes as one of the most painful chapters of her life, alleging that a secret marriage to a man who is now a senior official in President Bola Tinubu’s administration ended in abandonment and denial.
Karishima said the relationship began during the 2023 presidential campaign, where she met the influential figure. According to her, the man married her, rented and furnished a comfortable home for her, and provided regular financial support. However, she claimed that throughout their marriage, he never visited her residence and did not allow her to visit him, with their interactions limited largely to video calls.
The actress further revealed that a few months into the marriage, she developed a mysterious illness that left her bleeding continuously for five months. Despite several medical examinations, doctors were unable to determine the cause of the condition. She said she also suffered repeated episodes of unconsciousness during the period.
While battling the health crisis, Karishima alleged that her husband gradually withdrew from her life, cutting off communication and financial support. According to her, repeated attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful, leaving her in severe financial distress and isolated from many people around her.
The situation, she said, took an even more dramatic turn when she requested a divorce. Karishima alleged that the man denied ever marrying her and went as far as claiming he did not know her.
“In the end, I lost everything I had. When I asked him to divorce me, he said he had never married me, so how could he divorce someone he had never married? He even claimed that he did not know me at all,” the actress stated.
The claims have sparked reactions on social media, though the official involved has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
