Wife of former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Asiya El-Rufai, has described the bail conditions granted to her husband as unrealistic, arguing that the stringent requirements have made his release impossible.
Speaking on the development, Asiya said the court approved bail but attached conditions that she described as “not viable.”
According to her, the conditions require two sureties, each with a ₦200 million bond, alongside landed properties valued at ₦200 million each located in Kaduna’s Government Reserved Area (GRA).
She added that the sureties must also obtain attestation from the Kaduna State Traditional Council, a requirement she said has proven difficult to fulfil.
“A bail term with two sureties, ₦200 million each, and properties worth ₦200 million in GRA Kaduna, with attestation from the traditional council of Kaduna State. Efforts to get these became impossible,” Asiya El-Rufai said.
Her remarks come amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the former governor, with his family maintaining that the stringent bail conditions have effectively frustrated efforts to secure his release.
