A controversial video alleging a mass attack during a burial in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, has triggered heated reactions online, with critics dismissing the footage as a staged propaganda stunt.
The video, reportedly circulated by Masara Kim Usman, claimed that armed men identified as Fulani bandits attacked mourners at a burial ground, sparking outrage and renewed tension over insecurity in the state.
However, opponents of the narrative questioned the authenticity of the footage, arguing that the narrator appeared unusually calm despite allegedly fleeing from an active attack scene.
Critics pointed to the absence of visible casualties, injuries, panic, or emergency response, insisting that the footage looked more like a coordinated media production than a real-time attack.
They also alleged that the video was designed to provoke international attention and inflame ethnic tensions in Plateau State.
Adding to the controversy, some viewers claimed the only armed individual visible in the footage appeared to be a local militia member allegedly linked to the Berom ethnic group.
The incident has further deepened divisions over conflicting narratives surrounding violence and insecurity in Plateau, as calls grow for security agencies to investigate the claims and establish the true circumstances surrounding the video.
