Disability Initiative Slams Kano Govt Office Over Staff Harassment

The Kano state ‘Disability Projects Initiative, express their profound disappointment and condemnation of the recent harassment suffered by one of our female staff members at the hands of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

‘The incident not only led to the violation of her dignity but also resulted in the destruction of her personal property.

It is particularly disheartening that, despite exercising her constitutional rights as a citizen and a representative of persons with disabilities, she was disregarded and denied an audience at the office of the secretary to the Kano state Government.

”This blatant act of discrimination undermines the principles of equality, fairness, and respect for the rights of all citizens, particularly those with disabilities.

”We strongly condemn any form of harassment and intimidation against persons with disabilities who are striving to contribute positively to society.

Such actions perpetuate stigma and discrimination and contradict the ideals of inclusion and justice enshrined in our Constitution.

”We call on the Kano state government to investigate this incident thoroughly, ensure accountability for those responsible, and put measures in place to prevent future occurrences.

It is imperative that public offices and their representatives respect the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially vulnerable groups, as part of their duty to serve the public.
