DAR ES SALAAM – Billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote is preparing a major expansion of his business empire in Tanzania, with fresh investments planned in ports, power generation, fertiliser production and transport infrastructure following a high-level meeting with President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The talks, held at the State House in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, signalled a new phase in Dangote Industries Limited’s commitment to East Africa’s largest economies and Tanzania’s drive to accelerate industrialisation.

According to a statement issued on Monday, the discussions focused on strategic projects that could transform the country’s logistics, energy and manufacturing sectors while boosting regional trade across East Africa.

The proposed investments include the development of port infrastructure, power plants, fertiliser production facilities and transport networks expected to strengthen Tanzania’s position as a regional commercial hub.

Dangote, whose cement business already operates in Tanzania, is seeking to broaden the company’s footprint in sectors considered critical to economic growth and job creation.

President Samia’s engagement with Africa’s richest businessman underscores her administration’s push to attract large-scale private investment capable of driving industrial development and expanding cross-border trade in the region.

If implemented, the new projects are expected to reinforce Tanzania’s infrastructure base while opening fresh opportunities for investment, employment and regional economic integration.
