In a fresh boost to basic education in Gombe State, Danbayo’s Foundation has provided thousands of teaching and learning materials to six schools in Jekadafari Ward, targeting improved classroom activities and better learning opportunities for about 3,000 pupils.
The intervention, carried out on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, under the Foundation’s 2026 Mega Educational Support Programme, featured the distribution of more than 3,000 educational items to support teachers and pupils across the beneficiary schools.
The materials included class registers, lesson plan books, markers, dusters, exercise books, biros, rulers, pencils, drawing books, erasers, sharpeners and other essential classroom supplies.
The initiative is aimed at easing the challenges faced by teachers and pupils, reducing the financial pressure on parents and creating a more supportive environment for effective teaching and learning.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, the founder of Danbayo’s Foundation, Ambassador Yusuf Musa Danbayo, said the programme reflected the organisation’s determination to contribute to educational development and improve the welfare of children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Danbayo explained that access to basic educational materials remained important to effective learning, noting that the intervention was designed to assist teachers in carrying out their responsibilities while enabling pupils to participate more actively in classroom activities.
He reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to education, humanitarian assistance and community development, stressing that investing in children’s education was essential to building a better future for society.
The founder also expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Dan Majen Gombe, for the opportunity to serve under his administration and contribute to the development of the state.
He acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, government officials, education stakeholders, security agencies, civil society organisations, volunteers, media practitioners and other guests whose support helped make the programme successful.
The intervention received commendation from education authorities, who described the Foundation’s contribution as a welcome effort to complement government initiatives in the basic education sector.
The Education Secretary, Ali Baba Dalhatu, alongside the Chairman of the Education Committee, Shuaibu Adamu Daban Fulani, praised the Foundation for extending support to schools and helping address some of the needs of pupils and teachers.
They noted that partnerships between government and philanthropic organisations could strengthen educational delivery and improve conditions in schools.
The Chairman of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Hassan Bello, who attended the event as Special Guest of Honour, described the donation as timely and commendable.
He urged teachers to make effective use of the materials provided while maintaining discipline and promoting sound moral values among pupils.
Bello also stressed the importance of teachers in shaping the character and future of young learners, encouraging them to combine academic instruction with proper moral guidance.
Similarly, the Commandant of the 27 Army Brigade, Brigadier General M. S. Sule, applauded the Foundation for investing in education and called for sustained support for its programmes.
He encouraged the organisation to maintain its commitment to community development, noting the importance of initiatives that improve the welfare and prospects of younger generations.
The District Head of Jekadafari, Alhaji Abdullahi Doma, also called on parents and guardians to take their children’s education seriously.
He emphasised that the responsibility of educating children should not be left to teachers and government alone, urging families to provide the necessary encouragement and support for their children’s academic progress.
Some of the pupils who benefited from the initiative expressed gratitude to the Foundation, describing the gesture as helpful to their educational needs.
They also appealed to other wealthy individuals, organisations and community leaders to emulate the initiative by supporting schools and providing essential learning materials for children.
The distribution forms part of Danbayo’s Foundation’s broader commitment to promoting educational access and community welfare, particularly among vulnerable populations.
With thousands of learning materials reaching pupils and teachers across six schools, the initiative highlights the potential of private and community-based interventions to complement government efforts in strengthening basic education.
Stakeholders expressed hope that sustained collaboration among government institutions, philanthropic organisations, parents and communities would help create better learning conditions and expand educational opportunities for children across Gombe State.
End.
