The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, Naziru Abdulmajid, on Sunday commissioned five newly constructed Police Divisions alongside eighteen rank and file quarters each in Biu, Hawul, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, and Bayo Local Government Areas of Borno State.
The commissioning ceremony, held on May 18, 2026, attracted prominent stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and government representatives from the benefiting local government areas.
Among dignitaries present at the event were representatives of the Emir of Biu, Chairmen of the respective Local Government Councils, as well as representatives of the Member representing Biu, Bayo, Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Muktar Aliyu Betara, alongside other key stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Commissioner of Police expressed satisfaction over the successful completion and delivery of the projects, describing them as strategic investments aimed at strengthening the security architecture and enhancing operational efficiency across Borno South.
CP Naziru Abdulmajid stated that the establishment of the new Police Divisions and residential quarters would significantly improve police visibility, enhance response time to security incidents, and provide a more conducive working and living environment for officers and personnel deployed to the affected communities.
He further reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police towards promoting community oriented policing, improving personnel welfare, and deepening collaboration with local communities in the fight against crime and criminality.
The Police Commissioner also commended the support and cooperation of the Borno State Government, traditional institutions, community stakeholders, and residents for their continued partnership with security agencies in sustaining peace and stability across the state.
He urged officers posted to the newly commissioned formations to remain disciplined, professional, and dedicated to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, while also calling on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.
The event featured symbolic ribbon cutting ceremonies, inspection of the newly completed facilities, and interactive engagements with community stakeholders.
