The Yobe State Government has announced a lineup of activities to commemorate the seventh anniversary of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The anniversary celebration, themed “Seven Years of Continuity, Consolidation, and Transformational Leadership,” will showcase the achievements of the Buni administration since assuming office in 2019.

According to a statement released by the government, the activities will be coordinated by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and will begin with special Jumu’at prayers across mosques in the state for peace, unity, and continued prosperity in Yobe.

The programme will also feature an inspection tour of projects executed by the administration within Damaturu metropolis, highlighting key infrastructural and developmental strides recorded over the past seven years.

As part of the celebration, the Secretary to the State Government is expected to address journalists during a media briefing scheduled for 2:30 p.m., where the administration’s achievements and future plans will be outlined.

A special phone-in programme on the Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) is also slated for 4:30 p.m., giving residents the opportunity to engage government officials on issues relating to governance and development in the state.

The government directed commissioners, heads of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), and other senior officials to participate fully in all activities lined up for the anniversary.

Observers say the anniversary provides another opportunity for the administration to reflect on its stewardship, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, and post-insurgency recovery efforts across the state.

Since taking office, Governor Buni’s administration has embarked on several road construction projects, expansion of healthcare facilities, educational reforms, and empowerment programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens.

The celebration is expected to attract political stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and residents from across the state as Yobe marks seven years under the Buni-led administration.
