Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has confirmed Dr. Mohammed Goje as the substantive Secretary to the State Government (SSG), ending months of his stewardship in an acting capacity.
The confirmation, announced in a statement by the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Muhammad, follows Dr. Goje’s appointment as Acting SSG on April 29, 2026.
Before assuming the role of Acting SSG, Dr. Goje served as the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), where he played a key role in coordinating humanitarian and emergency response initiatives across the state.
While announcing the appointment, Governor Buni charged the new SSG to justify the confidence reposed in him by strengthening government efficiency, promoting innovation in public administration, and enhancing service delivery to the people of Yobe State.
The governor stressed that the office of the Secretary to the State Government remains central to policy coordination and the effective implementation of government programmes, urging Dr. Goje to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s development agenda.
The appointment is widely seen as a vote of confidence in Dr. Goje’s performance during his tenure as Acting SSG and signals continuity in Governor Buni’s drive to consolidate reforms aimed at improving governance and accelerating development across the state.
