BREAKING: DSS Drags el-Rufai to Court Over Alleged Phone Interception of NSA Ribadu

Borno State Government

A dramatic legal battle has erupted in Abuja as the Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations of unlawfully intercepting a private phone conversation involving National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

El-Rufai, who also served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, was brought before a Federal High Court on Thursday, facing a five-count amended charge filed by the DSS.

At the start of proceedings, prosecutors revealed that the initial three-count charge had been expanded to five, signaling a potentially more complex legal showdown.

The charges center on claims that the former governor illegally accessed sensitive communications linked to the nation’s top security office—an allegation that could have far-reaching political and legal implications.

The case is already drawing intense attention, as it pits two heavyweight figures in Nigeria’s security and political landscape against each other in what observers describe as a high-stakes courtroom clash.
