Bauchi Police Arrest Armed Robbery, Kidnap, Rape Suspect, Coupled With Unlawful Weapons Possession

Intelligence-led policing and resilience in covert operations by detectives of the Bauchi state police command Friday led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with series of alleged kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and unlawful possession of offensive weapons within Bauchi metropolis.

The 53 years-old Gambo Hassan, alias “Anahaka” was arrested by the police detectives at evening hours of Thursday 11th September, 2026 along Adamu Jumba road in Bauchi metropolitan area disguising himself as commercial motorcycle ‘Okada Rider’.

The Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Nafi’u Habib said in a press statement weekend, “On 11th September, 2026 at about 2045hrs, operatives of ‘B’ Division GRA, Bauchi on routine patrol arrested 53-years-old Gambo Hassan, alias ‘Anahaka’, a male of Igbo Quarters, Bauchi”

SP Nafi’u Habib explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect disguised himself as a commercial motorcycle, “Okada” rider during evening hours to target, kidnap, rob and at times rape unsuspecting passengers, particularly women.

The PPRO stated that at the time of arrest along Adamu Jumba Road, suspect Gambo Hassan was found in possession of a sharp knife and was riding a Bajaj motorcycle with Reg. No. BAU 150G, while wearing a black face mask and a face cap.

“During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime. He further led detectives to identify fifteen women within Bauchi metropolis as victims of his criminal activities. The number of identified victims later rose to thirty-five women”, Habib further said.l

He revealed that a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence, where items suspected to be proceeds of crime were recovered that included
fifteen (15) assorted phones, Samsung Galaxy Fold, Redmi, 2 iTel, 2 iPhones, 4 Infinix, and 2 Techno.

Other items are three power banks, six ladies’ wristwatches, six assorted native caps
five bundles of women’s wrappers, three women’s hijabs
cash sum of ₦425,435, as well as Kenyan and Turkish currency notes, and many other items.

Habib added, “In line with standard procedure, the suspect and all recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution”.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has commended the detectives for their vigilance and professionalism, assuring that the Command remains resolute in clamping down on criminal elements, as he urged members of the public, especially victims, to come forward with useful information to aid investigation.
