Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved a major reshuffle in the leadership of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, appointing Ambassador Sulaiman Santuraki, District Head of Tirwun, as the new Chairman.
The Governor also approved the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Ahmed, Chiroman Gamawa and District Head of Gamawa, as Deputy Chairman of the Board, with both appointments taking immediate effect.
The changes followed the recent elevation of the Emir of Lere and Emir of Gamawa from their former positions as district heads to their respective traditional stools.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado Jarman Alkaleri, the appointments were made in accordance with established tradition and to guarantee continuity in the administration of Hajj affairs in the state.
In a related development, Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed the Emir of Lere, His Royal Highness Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, as Bauchi State’s Amirul Hajj for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The appointment means the former chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will continue to play a leading role in the state’s Hajj operations, this time in the capacity of Amirul Hajj.
Governor Bala Mohammed commended the outgoing chairman and other members of the board’s leadership for their years of service, describing their contributions to the welfare of pilgrims and the successful organisation of Hajj operations as valuable to the state.
He particularly expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers for their dedication and commitment to the development of the state’s pilgrimage administration, noting their contributions to improving the welfare and experience of Bauchi pilgrims over the years.
The Governor congratulated the newly appointed Chairman and Deputy Chairman, urging them to deploy their experience, commitment and sense of responsibility toward strengthening the operations of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
He charged the new leadership to sustain the gains recorded by the board while ensuring effective coordination and improved services for pilgrims from Bauchi State.
Governor Mohammed also wished the appointees wisdom, guidance and success as they take up their new responsibilities, stressing the importance of continuity and effective leadership in the management of Hajj affairs.
The latest appointments mark a fresh phase in the administration of pilgrimage affairs in Bauchi State, with the new board leadership expected to build on existing structures while the Emir of Lere takes charge of the state’s 2027 Hajj delegation as Amirul Hajj.
