The Bauchi State Governor Kauran Daular Usmaniya Senator Bala Mohammed has charged the newly elected Local Government Chairmen, Six Special Advisers and a Commissioner to justify public confidence repose on them by showing integrity and competence, for effective service.
The Governor gave the charge during their swearing-in ceremony held at the state government house, said consistent Local Government elections since 2019 demonstrate his administration’s commitment to strengthening democracy and effective governance at grassroots in Bauchi State.
The Governor’s newly embraced Party, the Allied Peoples Movement APM clinched all the 20 chairmanship seats and 319 of the 323 councillorship positions in the State local government elections held on Monday and announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission BASIEC.
The Governor attributed the victory to achievements in roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply and security, saying that over 3,000 kilometres of roads have been completed across urban and rural communities.
He warned the chairmen against misappropriating Local Government funds, urging them to remain servants of the people, work closely with stakeholders and deliver meaningful results for citizens during their tenure.
Responding on behalf of the elected chairmen, Ningi Local Government Chairman, Yahuza Adamu Haruna, described their election as a serious responsibility and promised responsible service to people and communities.
Yahuza Haruna thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for the opportunity to serve, pledging to protect the integrity of his office, improve welfare, promote Local Government dignity and justify public confidence entrusted.
