Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared the outcome of the recent local government elections in Rivers State a resounding rejection of godfatherism and political oppression.
The polls, held amidst a rift between Nyesom Wike, FCT minister, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, saw the Action Peoples Party (APP) win 22 of 23 LGAs, signaling a shift in power.
Atiku praised the people of Rivers for standing against political intimidation, stating that the results mark the beginning of true democratic governance in the state.
The former vice-president lauded Governor Fubara for upholding the integrity of the election, urging the newly elected leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people.
