The Governing Council of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi has tasked it’s New Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba would carry the institution to greater heights.
The chairman of the council, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada charge the charge last night while announcing the approval for the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor after it’s meeting which lasted till midnight.
Commodore Jekada who is also the Pro-chancellor of the ATBU, said that their purpose as a council is to make sure that the University is rated as one of the best in the county.
Jekada added, “Whatever is possible for us as a council, we shall endeavor to work hard towards changing this University very possibly, and we hope that God the Almighty would help us achieve this desire”.
He recalled that the process of getting the new Vice Chancellor took the long time, since February this year when the tenure of the outgoing one expired before taking this resolution.
“It is very pleasing to invite you and inform that after tedious work for many weeks and months, and after the expiration of the tenure of the other Vice Chancellor of the University, the council went through many procedures to approve the appointment”, Jekada said.
The Chairman explained that the council has to follow the provisions of the University’s Miscellaneous Amendment Act 2003, and in exercising the it’s powers under Section 6, subsection 4 of the Act to approve the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba”.
Jekada told the journalists that the exercise did not come to them as easy as they are now seeing it, as they have to undergo many processes all in the efforts to search for the best.
