ANALYSTS: JAKUSKO SUMMIT SIGNALS GRASSROOTS POLITICAL CONSOLIDATION

Borno State Government

Political observers say the Jakusko Youth Unity and Strategic Engagement Summit 2026 may mark a strategic shift toward stronger grassroots mobilization and loyalty-driven politics in Yobe State.

Held in Jakusko Local Government Area under the theme of unity, civic participation, and sustainable development, the gathering brought together youth leaders and stakeholders in what analysts describe as a calculated effort to consolidate political structures ahead of future contests.

The summit, convened by State Party Chairman Muhammad Gadaka, focused on deepening grassroots cohesion, with speakers emphasizing unity as a critical tool for political stability and development.

In his remarks, Saidu Hassan Jakusko underscored the importance of loyalty to leadership and alignment across all levels of the political structure, from wards to local governments.

Analysts note that his strong endorsement of directives from Governor Mai Mala Buni and party leadership reflects a deliberate push to maintain internal cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They argue that such messaging is aimed at preventing factional cracks while reinforcing a unified political front, particularly among youth blocs seen as critical to electoral success.

The summit’s emphasis on civic engagement and peacebuilding, experts say, also signals an attempt to balance political loyalty with broader developmental goals—positioning the youth as both political actors and agents of stability in the state.
