Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has paid a visit to former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as political engagements intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Atiku announced the visit in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, describing the meeting with the former First Lady as “warm and deeply appreciated.”
While neither Aisha Buhari nor Atiku publicly disclosed the specific purpose or details of their discussion, the meeting has drawn attention because of the political backgrounds of the two prominent figures and the approaching 2027 elections.
According to Atiku, the encounter went beyond the courtesies of a private visit, reminding those seeking to contribute to Nigeria’s future of the responsibility to place citizens at the centre of their concerns.
He said the welfare, dignity and future of Nigerians should remain a priority for anyone seeking a better country.

“Across our country, families are being stretched by the rising cost of food, transport, education, healthcare and other basic necessities,” Atiku said.
The former Vice-President added that building a country that works for its citizens would require efforts to reduce the burden on households and restore hope for the future.
He said the Nigeria he envisaged was one where citizens could access opportunities and enjoy improved living conditions.
The ADC presidential candidate concluded his message with a call to ease the economic burden on Nigerians, restore hope and make Nigeria affordable again.
