Accord Guber Candidate Promises ₦500,000 Minimum Wage in Kebbi

Katsina State Government

By Abdullahi Inuwa

The Accord Party governorship candidate in Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Bunza, has pledged to introduce a ₦500,000 minimum wage for civil servants in the state if elected governor.

Bunza made the promise while addressing journalists at the Candidates Engagement Forum, organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kebbi State Council, in Birnin Kebbi.

The candidate said the current earnings of Nigerian workers were increasingly failing to reflect the economic realities confronting families, arguing that civil servants deserved better working conditions and improved purchasing power.

He lamented what he described as the hardship being experienced by workers as a result of government policies, saying the situation had subjected many civil servants to considerable financial pressure and uncertainty.

Bunza said his decision to contest the governorship election was not driven by personal ambition or the pursuit of political power, but by what he described as a desire to bring about meaningful change in Kebbi State.

He identified security as another major priority of his proposed administration, expressing concern over banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities affecting communities across the state and the country.

According to him, governments at different levels must do more to protect citizens and restore confidence in the ability of the authorities to secure lives and property.

The Accord candidate also questioned the disparity in the security experiences of ordinary citizens and political office holders, arguing that the kidnapping of ordinary residents should receive the same urgency and attention as threats involving people in positions of authority.

Bunza pledged that, if elected, his administration would adopt a more aggressive approach to tackling insecurity and work towards creating an environment where residents could live and conduct their businesses without fear.

He also promised to prioritise the health sector, saying his administration would strengthen healthcare delivery and work towards reducing the need for residents to seek medical treatment outside the country.

He maintained that improving workers’ welfare, strengthening security and investing in healthcare would form part of his broader agenda for Kebbi State.

Bunza consequently appealed to voters across the state to carefully consider the choices before them and support the Accord Party at the polls.

He urged the electorate to vote for candidates they believe can address the economic and social challenges confronting the people of Kebbi.
