ATBU Gubi Campus Now Fully Accommodative, Says VC Abdul’Azeez

The Vice Chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Prof. Muhammad Ahmad Abdul’Azeez has expressed delight that 70 percent of the institition activities are now being carried out at it’s Gubi main campus, as only about 30 percent are remaining at the Yelwa satillite campus.

He was speaking Thursday during the commissioning of 19 other different completed projects executed at the main campus in the last five years, saying “These were not the only projects executed within this period of time, there are others that we previously completed and commissioned”.

Prof. Muhammad Abdul’Azeez then commended the incumbent Minister of Health, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate for his resolve to address the myraids of health sector problems in the country, stressing “As a University producing medical practitioners, we have a stake in the policies the Federal Ministry of Health would promulgate, especially as it affect it’s college of medical sciences and ATBU Teaching Hospital”.

“We are ready to support the government and it’s all commitments to improve the health sector for better service delivery to our people. Our elected representatives at both the state and federal levels are assets to our development. We rely on you to make laws that will favour the development of educational sector, as education cannot be replace as catalyst for the development of any natiion.

The Vice Chancellor who was reprepresented by his deputy (Academics), Prof. Sani Usman Kunya, also noted that traditional rulers holds the balance between the government and the governed, and commended them for the guidance and tireless councelling the citizens to get from them at all times.

He told the traditional rulers who graced the occasion, “Your position in the society has remain indispensable because you are the only institution we run to when we know we have nowhere to run. God will continue to protect you and give you the constant flow of wisdom to keep the society.

Prof. Muhammad Abdul’Azeez appreciated the Federal Government, specifically the Federal Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company for their invaluable contributions to the realization of the projects.

The Vice Chancellor enumerated some of the executed projects to included students hostels, Staff offices, University Clinic, Lecture theatrers, Classrooms, Library, and the Varsity General School, among others.

Governor Bala Mohammed has while commissioning one of the projects, Research Laboratories – National Centre for Petroleum Research and Development, reassured the management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) of it’s continued support and cooperation towards the realization of common goals and attainment of educational excellence.

He noted with delight that today the ATBU can boost of two campuses, Yelwa sateillte and Gubi Main campus where various courses are being run, stressing that the provision of infrastructural educational facilities are testimonies of the commitment of the University to ensure conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Senator Bala Mohammed said, “I understand that the classrooms, laboratories and office blocks were constructed by Tetfund, and I commend the fund for it’s relentless efforts to tertiary educational institutions towards attaining academic excellence.

Other projects commissioned are Faculty of Technology Education commissioned on behalf of Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda by Alh. Dikko Bala Umaru Kofar Sauri; Faculty of Vetenery Science; Dept of Biochemistry – Faculty of Science; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Central Store and Varsity Clinic by some dignitaries including the Emir of Misau, Alh. Ahmed Suleiman, and Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South.
