In a strongly worded statement, the Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned Israel’s recent military strike on Iran, which has dangerously escalated tensions in the Middle East.

Describing the development as “deeply concerning,” Nigeria called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged both Tehran and Tel Aviv to exercise the utmost restraint to avoid further destabilizing the region.

“Nigeria is gravely worried about the unfolding events between the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran. We strongly condemn actions that threaten regional and global peace,” the statement read.

As one of Africa’s leading voices in international diplomacy, Nigeria reiterated its commitment to peace and dialogue, calling on world powers and regional stakeholders to intervene swiftly before the conflict spirals further out of control.

The call comes as airstrikes, counterattacks, and heightened military readiness threaten to plunge the Middle East into a wider war with global implications.

“Peace must prevail,” Nigeria urged.
