The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has pledged to make human capital development and youth empowerment key priorities of his administration if elected in 2027.
Gwamna, while reaffirming his longstanding commitment to mentoring young people, said investing in the younger generation was critical to building a prosperous, productive and sustainable society.
The APC candidate stressed that his interest in youth development was not a campaign-season promise, but a commitment he had pursued over the years through mentorship, guidance, personal support and efforts to create opportunities for young people.
He noted that several youths who had benefited from his mentorship and support had gone on to distinguish themselves in different professions and fields of endeavour.
According to him, their accomplishments represent a source of pride, not only to him personally but also to Gombe State.
Gwamna particularly commended youths from the state who are currently living and working outside Gombe, saying their achievements had helped project the image of the state positively.
He described such young people as worthy ambassadors whose success demonstrated what could be achieved when youths receive the right guidance, skills and opportunities.
“I dedicate my struggle towards mentoring and building youths. Those I have built and mentored have excelled in their various fields of endeavour, doing a great service to our land. Those who are outside Gombe are also doing a great job as our ambassadors,” he said.
The governorship hopeful maintained that no society could achieve meaningful and lasting development without deliberate investment in its younger population.
He said youths must be equipped with relevant knowledge, technical and entrepreneurial skills, mentorship and access to opportunities capable of making them economically independent.
Gwamna also acknowledged the youth-focused initiatives of the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, describing them as part of the foundation upon which further interventions could be built.
He promised to consolidate existing achievements while introducing additional programmes aimed at expanding opportunities and improving the prospects of young people across the state.
According to him, his administration would place greater emphasis on capacity building, innovation, entrepreneurship and programmes designed to help youths become self-reliant and productive.
He further assured young people in Gombe that he would work towards creating an enabling environment where they could develop their talents, pursue their ambitions and play a greater role in the economic and social transformation of the state.
Gwamna said the future of Gombe depended largely on how effectively the state harnessed the energy, creativity and talents of its youthful population.
