Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Dr. Tahiru Shettima as Chairman Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC).
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dauda Iliya, Dr. Shettima has vast experience in local government administration with Doctor of Philosophy in Policy and Development Studies from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
The Chairman BOSIEC was a permanent secretary state Universal Basic Education Board and ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs.
He has served in several committees including Secretary, Technical Committee of the Borno State Local Government Joint Account; Secretary, Committee on Payment of Pensions and Gratuity to Local Government Staff; Committee on Verification of Local Government Pensioners and Payment of Gratuity, Borno State; Committee on the Review Verification of Local Government among others.
His appointment is subject to confirmation by the State Assembly.
Similarly, Governor Babagana Zulum has also appointed Professor Mohammed Abba Jimme as Executive Secretary, Guidance and Counselling Board.
The newly appointed Executive Secretary is a Professor in Environment, Resource and Development.
Prof. Jimme before his appointment was the Director Center for Disaster Risk Management & Development Studies, (CDRM&DS), University of Maiduguri.
Prof. Jimme hails from Kala Balge Local Government Area with over 20 years of experience in academic research and worked with numerous international and local organizations.
He has over 50 journal publications to his credit, and attended several seminar and conference within and outside the country.
Governor Zulum congratulates all the appointees and urged to be dedicated and committed to their new assignments.
