Zulum Honors Shettima, Buni with Housing Estates, Renames Road After Borno’s Shehu

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has named the 72 Metro Housing Estate in Maiduguri after Vice President Kashim Shettima, recognizing his impactful leadership. Similarly, the Njimtilo 500 Housing Units were named in honor of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, during the commissioning ceremony at the former Police Ground in Maiduguri.

Zulum also announced the renaming of Shehu Sanda Kura Road after the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi, to celebrate his contributions to the state.

“These projects reflect our administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, providing affordable housing, and fostering economic growth,” Zulum stated. He revealed that the Kashim Shettima Housing Estate would cater to military officers, security personnel, and Federal Government workers, while 210 houses within the Mai Mala 500 Housing Units would be allocated to police officers to vacate space for a world-class International Conference Centre.

Governor Zulum highlighted transformative initiatives, including the Borno Express Flyover and the dualization of Shehu Sanda Kura Road, aimed at enhancing transportation and economic activities.

Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed gratitude, emphasizing the shared cultural heritage of Borno and Yobe. He commended Zulum’s efforts in rebuilding the state and invited him to Yobe for the commissioning of legacy projects.

This event underscores the region’s united stride toward recovery and development post-Boko Haram insurgency.
