The people of Zaria Federal Constituency have united in a wave of applause and appreciation for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, as he marks two impactful years in office as Nigeria’s number one lawmaker.
At various sideline events of the ongoing three-day celebration, which kicked off on Friday, constituents from all walks of life described Speaker Abbas as “a rare gem, a servant-leader, and a blessing not only to Zaria but the entire North West region.”
Malam Sani from Unguwan Iya, while speaking at the venue, declared: “I’m not a member of APC, but the Speaker’s generosity and numerous developmental projects compelled me to attend this event. His magnanimity knows no bounds.”
From scholarship schemes to agricultural empowerment and infrastructure development, the speaker’s reach has been described as unmatched in recent times. Zubairu Lawal, a student from Tudun Wada, revealed he was awarded a ₦250,000 scholarship through the Speaker’s education initiative. “It has eased a heavy burden and allowed me to focus more on my studies,” he said.
Farmers have also felt the Speaker’s impact. Malam Aliyu Dangaladima of Kufena recounted how the intervention of Dr. Abbas in the distribution of fertilizers and farm inputs boosted his farming output. “He didn’t forget the farmers. He came through for us in a big way,” he added.
The speaker, who has been in the National Assembly for 14 years, is celebrated for his quiet but determined leadership style that has drawn confidence from both his constituents and colleagues in Abuja.
The anniversary events, which will continue through Sunday, feature development tours, public lectures, empowerment programs, and testimonials from beneficiaries of his constituency projects.
Across social and political divides, voices in Zaria are united in a single verdict: Dr. Tajudeen Abbas has earned his place in history as a speaker for the people—trusted, tested, and triumphantly celebrated.
