The Zamfara State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its relentless war against crime and illicit drugs, arresting a suspect and recovering a large consignment of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in Kaura Namoda.
In a statement released on Monday, the Command disclosed that the arrest was made on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at about 10:00am, during a routine stop-and-search operation by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol (SHP) at Kasuwan Daji along the Kaura Namoda Road.
The patrol team, led by ASP Atahiru Mohamed, intercepted a Golf vehicle conveying the suspected illicit substance. Sensing trouble, the driver reportedly attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended with the support of vigilant members of the Kasuwan Daji community. The suspect was taken into custody while the exhibits were recovered at the scene.
Police sources confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network behind the suspected drug trafficking operation, with efforts underway to arrest other collaborators linked to the illegal trade.
Commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, praised the residents of Kasuwan Daji for their prompt cooperation and civic responsibility. He urged the public to sustain their partnership with security agencies in combating drug-related crimes and other criminal activities across the state.
The Zamfara State Police Command reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that criminal elements and drug traffickers will continue to face decisive action.
